Description
This project was for the restoration and upgrading of two Category C Listed farm cottages for a private client. The properties are located near Duns in the Scottish Borders.
We were initially instructed to undertake a Building Survey on the properties prior to our client purchasing the properties with view to letting on a full term basis. We then provided a full architectural service from inception through to practical completion of the works consisting of obtaining statutory consents, tenders and managing the Form of Building Contract.
The overall aim of the works was to approach the restoration and upgrading of the cottages in a sensitive manor to retain and restore the historic appearance, features and uniformity while meeting the requirements of modern day living standards.
Works consisted in brief of the installation of a chemical damp proof course, a full heating system, new timber double glazing sliding sash windows, new internal and external doors, new kitchen and bathroom, renovation of the fireplaces and decoration including other repairs and the like.
