Description
This project is one of a few partly grant funded Schemes under the Berwick upon Tweed Historic Area Improvement Scheme (BHAIS) for a private client. The grant is funded by English Heritage, Northumberland County Council and the National Lottery. The aim of this grant is to bring redundant buildings back into reuse.
The property is located on Castlegate, in Berwick upon Tweed, and is within a conservation area part of the town. On this project we were instructed to produce specifications, drawings and tender documentation for building repairs in a top down approach. We were also instructed to look at design proposals for a new shopfront window due to the existing defective window. In producing the new design for the shopfront window we worked with the client to incorporate the requirements of the brief while working with the architectural language of the building and incorporated the original section profiles to produce a new window.
As part of the proposals ramped access was also incorporated to make the premises more accessible.
