This project was for the development of a site for a developer client. The site is located in Spittal near Berwick upon Tweed in Northumberland.

We were instructed to design and produce a scheme proposal for the site which is sited within the conservation area of Spittal. The aim was to produce a development which responded to the site and reflected the local context, scale and massing while making best use of the site to its full potential.

When producing the scheme submitted for consideration under the Planning Acts we critical analysed the site and the immediate and surrounding context throughout Spittal. The findings were then used as a method and means of producing and testing concept studies and to develop proposals.

The result is a development of three dwelling houses consisting of two and two and half stories, one detached and the other two as a semi-detached block, both connected by a garden wall prominent to this immediate area. The use of materials again aim to reflect that used throughout the wider context of Spittal. This variety in height of roof lines and materials aim to create a rich diverse development that reflects Spittal.
